The University of Cambridge CELTA course is the most longstanding 4-week initial teacher training course for ESL teachers in the United States. The first CELTA course run in the USA was in San Francisco in 1980. Since then, thousands of Americans have gained their CELTA certification and gone on to teach English both in the US and abroad.
